Robert T Yin – 尹彤

Robert T. Yin (尹彤, 1925–2024) was a key figure in Rotary history across Taiwan and Greater China. Born in Jiangsu Province, he served as a signal officer in the Republic of China Air Force before working on Taiwan’s Shimen Reservoir project and within the Ministry of National Defense. In 1960, Yin became Executive Secretary of the Taipei Rotary Club, the first Rotary club reestablished in Taiwan post-World War II. He translated important Rotary literature into Chinese and joined the club as a full member in 1962. From 1988, he edited the Rotary Bi-monthly and helped transition it to a monthly publication by 1990. Yin’s translations and editorial work significantly enhanced communication and training in the Chinese-speaking Rotary community. He actively participated in local and international Rotary events until gradually retiring with age. Yin passed away peacefully in Taipei on January 7, 2024.

Nascido na Província de Jiangsu, serviu como oficial de sinalização na Força Aérea da República da China antes de trabalhar no projeto do Reservatório Shimen em Taiwan e no Ministério da Defesa Nacional. Em 1960, Yin tornou-se Secretário Executivo do Rotary Club de Taipei, o primeiro clube Rotary reestabelecido em Taiwan após a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Ele traduziu importantes publicações do Rotary para o chinês e tornou-se membro pleno do clube em 1962. A partir de 1988, foi editor do Rotary Bi-monthly e ajudou a transformá-lo em uma publicação mensal em 1990. O trabalho de tradução e edição de Yin melhorou significativamente a comunicação e o treinamento na comunidade rotária de língua chinesa. Participou ativamente de eventos rotários locais e internacionais até se aposentar gradualmente. Yin faleceu pacificamente em Taipei em 7 de janeiro de 2024.

尹彤（Robert T. Yin，1925–2024）是台湾及大中华区扶轮历史上的重要人物。生于江苏省，曾任中华民国空军信号官，后参与台湾石门水库工程，并在国防部工作。1960年，尹彤任台北扶轮社执行秘书，该社为二战后台湾首个重新成立的扶轮社。他将重要扶轮刊物翻译成中文，并于1962年成为正式会员。自1988年起，他担任《扶轮双月刊》主编，1990年推动其改为月刊出版。尹彤的翻译和编辑工作极大促进了华语扶轮社区的培训与沟通。他积极参与本地及国际扶轮会议，随后因年事渐退。尹彤于2024年1月7日在台北安详辞世。
