Dr. Hsieh Yen-Shen is a distinguished Taiwanese industrial engineer and philanthropist who began his career in the 1970s with Ampex, Ford, and Taiwan General Motors. In 1979, he co-founded an electronics startup and later, in 1984, Hengye Electronics, a company specializing in printed circuit boards that grew alongside Taiwan’s electronics industry. After Hengye merged with Unimicron in 2001, Dr. Hsieh devoted himself to Rotary International’s humanitarian efforts, focusing on disaster relief, youth exchanges, and scholarships. Alongside his wife Zhu Chong, he actively promotes Rotary’s principles of “selfless service” through international initiatives. He has also supported Chung Yuan Christian University with scholarships and infrastructure.
