Beginning of the Wuhu Rotary Club – 蕪湖扶輪社組織之經過

The Wuhu Rotary Club was conceived over a decade ago, inspired by the founder’s experiences attending Rotary luncheons and recognizing the club’s professionalism and fellowship. Initially, establishing a club in Wuhu was challenging due to no existing interior China clubs and the lack of Chinese Rotary resources. The founder gained insight by attending Shanghai and Nanking Rotary Clubs as a guest and speaking at businessmen’s meetings about Rotary. In April 1934, after visiting the new Nanking Club, the idea became more concrete. During a later visit to the U.S. in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the founder expressed the wish to start a Wuhu club. Supported by friends who contacted Rotary International, the founder received literature, invitations to Rotary headquarters, and letters of introduction to key individuals like Honorary Commissioner E. F. Harris, paving the way for the Wuhu Rotary Club’s formation.

O Rotary Club de Wuhu foi idealizado há mais de uma década, inspirado pelas experiências do fundador em almoços rotários, reconhecendo o profissionalismo e a camaradagem do clube. Inicialmente, criar um clube em Wuhu era difícil devido à ausência de clubes no interior da China e à falta de recursos rotários em chinês. O fundador aprofundou seu conhecimento frequentando os clubes de Xangai e Nanjing como convidado e falando sobre Rotary em encontros de homens de negócios. Em abril de 1934, após visitar o novo clube de Nanjing, a ideia se concretizou. Durante uma visita posterior aos EUA, em Ann Arbor, Michigan, o fundador expressou o desejo de fundar o clube de Wuhu. Com apoio de amigos que contataram o Rotary Internacional, ele recebeu literatura, convites à sede mundial e cartas de apresentação para pessoas chave como o Comissário Honorário E. F. Harris, viabilizando a formação do Rotary Club de Wuhu.

蕪湖扶輪社的创立构想始于十多年前，源自创始人参加扶轮午餐会的经历，感受到该社的专业精神和友情。起初，由于中国内地没有已成立的扶轮社，且缺乏中文扶轮资源，设立蕪湖社面临诸多困难。创始人通过作为嘉宾参与上海及南京扶轮社活动，并在商会会议介绍扶轮理念，逐步加深了解。1934年4月，访问新成立的南京社后，这一设想变得更加具体。后来，创始人在美国密歇根安娜堡访问期间表达了成立蕪湖扶轮社的愿望。经过朋友联系扶轮国际，创始人获得扶轮总部的资料和邀请函，以及介绍函给荣誉委员E. F. Harris等重要人物，为蕪湖扶轮社的成立铺平了道路。
