The 2 Rotary Mobile Clinics operated by Shanghai Rotarians

In December 2015, Rotary International designated December as “Disease Prevention and Treatment Month” to highlight global efforts against diseases like polio, HIV/AIDS, and malaria. However, nearly 80 years earlier, the Shanghai Rotary Club demonstrated similar commitment by operating two mobile clinics during different historical periods. In 1937, amid war, they converted an ambulance into a Rotary Mobile Clinic and Dispensary to provide medical care to refugees who lacked access to healthcare. This pioneering initiative underscores Rotary’s longstanding dedication to community health services and disease prevention in Shanghai.
