R. C. Chen (Taipei) 陳長桐(臺北)

R. C. Chen (1896–1983) from Luozhou Town, Fuzhou, Fujian Province, was President of the Taipei Rotary Club in 1953-1954. A May Fourth Movement pioneer at Tsinghua University, he graduated in 1919 and studied banking and finance in the U.S., earning degrees from the University of Colorado and New York State University. Chen taught commerce and held academic and administrative roles, including Director of International Trade at National Central University. During WWII, he represented the Chinese National Defense Supply Corporation in Yangon and served as liaison officer to India. After moving to Taiwan in 1949, Chen was the Republic of China’s Permanent Representative to the World Bank and held leadership roles in the Bank of China, Central Bank of the Republic of China, and Association of Appointed Banks. He also advised international financial delegations and was a Kuomintang party consultant.

陈长桐(1896–1983),福建福州罗州镇人,1953至1954年任台北扶轮社社长。清华大学五四运动先驱,1919年毕业,后赴美深造,先后获得科罗拉多大学银行学学位及纽约州立大学金融学硕士学位。回国后任教商业,历任多项学术及行政职务,包括国立中央大学国际贸易主任。二战期间,曾在仰光代表中国国防供应公司,后任印度联络官。1949年迁台后,长期担任中华民国驻世界银行常驻代表,并在中国银行、中华民国中央银行及指定银行公会担任高层职位。同时,他也是多个国际金融会议代表团的顾问,并担任国民党党务顾问。
