Dr. The Honourable Sir Henry Edward Pollock (Hong Kong) 普樂爵士 (香港)

Dr. The Honourable Sir Henry Edward Pollock (1864–1953) was a prominent English barrister and political figure in colonial Hong Kong. Arriving in 1888, he served multiple times as acting Attorney General in Hong Kong and once in Fiji. Pollock was a senior unofficial member of Hong Kong’s Legislative and Executive Councils for nearly 40 years before WWII. He was a key founder of the University of Hong Kong, working alongside Sir Paul Chater and Governor Sir Frederick Lugard. Pollock championed constitutional reforms and increased unofficial representation, though some efforts were rejected. He received a knighthood in 1924 and an honorary law doctorate from HKU in 1925. During WWII, he and his wife lived in Australia, where he died in Sydney in 1953.
