Reverend Yang Sze-Chen (楊四箴牧師) was a distinguished Chinese Christian minister, educator, and civic leader in Wusih (Wuxi), Jiangsu Province. Educated at St. John’s University in Shanghai, he co-founded the St. John’s Alumni School (無錫私立輔仁中學) in Wusih in 1918, serving as its third principal from 1926 to 1958. Under his leadership, the school became a prestigious bilingual preparatory institution modeled after St. John’s University, renowned for academic rigor and discipline. Yang also served as Charter Secretary of the Wusih Rotary Club at its founding in 1937 and again during its reestablishment after World War II. His efforts helped the school survive wartime disruptions, including relocation during the Sino-Japanese War. Reverend Yang was also pastor of the Holy Cross Anglican Church in Wusih and a key figure in social welfare and education. The Wuxi Furen Senior High School honors him as a founding pillar, commemorating his lasting impact on education and Rotary service in the region.
