Tu Chen-Yuen (1889–1961) was a prominent Chinese railway engineer and patriot from Hubei Province. Educated at Tangshan Institute and Cornell University, he led major 20th-century railway projects, including roles as director and chief engineer of the Hangzhou-Jiangxi Railway Bureau. He was instrumental in constructing over 3,600 km of railways and nearly 600 km of roads using innovative methods. In 1931, Tu founded the Hangchow (杜鎮遠) Rotary Club, China’s first Chinese-language Rotary Club. During the Sino-Japanese War, he managed critical railways vital to military logistics. Later, he directed the Yunnan-Burma Railway construction until wartime conditions halted the project. After 1949, Tu advised the PRC government but was persecuted during the Anti-Rightist Movement, with his reputation restored in 1979. He is remembered for his lasting contributions to China’s railway development and is honored in his native Hubei.

Formado pelo Instituto Tangshan e pela Universidade Cornell, liderou importantes projetos ferroviários do século XX, incluindo cargos como diretor e engenheiro-chefe do Escritório da Ferrovia Hangzhou-Jiangxi. Foi fundamental na construção de mais de 3.600 km de ferrovias e quase 600 km de estradas usando métodos inovadores. Em 1931, Tu fundou o Clube Rotary de Hangchow (杜鎮遠), o primeiro clube Rotary em língua chinesa na China. Durante a Guerra Sino-Japonesa, gerenciou ferrovias cruciais para a logística militar. 杜镇远（1889–1961）是湖北籍著名铁路工程师和爱国者。他毕业于唐山学院（今西南交通大学）及美国康奈尔大学，主持了20世纪中国多项重要铁路工程，担任杭州－江西铁路局局长兼总工程师。杜镇远创新施工方法，建成及修复铁路逾3600公里，道路近600公里。1931年，他组建了杭州（杜镇远）扶轮社，这是中国首个中文扶轮社。抗日战争时期，他主管浙江－江西和湘桂铁路，保障军需运输。后领导云南－缅甸铁路建设，因战事中止。1949年后，他担任新中国顾问，文化大革命期间遭政治迫害，1979年平反。杜镇远以其对中国铁路建设的卓越贡献被纪念，故乡湖北为其致敬。
