The Rotary Club of Hong Kong, founded on December 8, 1930, at Lane Crawford restaurant, is the oldest Rotary club in the Greater China region and played a key role in Rotary’s growth across Asia. Established through Canadian explorer and Rotary vice-president James Wheeler Davidson, it included prominent figures such as Sir William Woodward Hornell, its first president (1930–1932), and Sir Shouson Chow, the first Chinese Knight Bachelor.
