Dr. Liu Lit-Mo, MBE, JP, HonLLD, was the 35th District Governor (1994-1995) of Rotary International District 3450, overseeing 43 clubs in Hong Kong and 4 in Macau. A prominent banker and community leader, Liu presided over Hong Kong Island West Rotary Club (1991-1992) and led historic initiatives including proposing Mongolia’s inclusion as a Rotary country, resulting in the formation of the Ulaanbaatar Rotary Club in 1995. He also championed a poverty alleviation project in Guangdong’s Qingyuan, funding housing for displaced Yao ethnic families. Liu headed Liu Chong Hing Bank and Investment Ltd., expanding their presence in Hong Kong and mainland China. Beyond business, he contributed extensively to education as a trustee of institutions including Liu Po Shan Memorial College and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and served in public service roles including chairmanship of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. Awarded MBE and honorary Doctor of Laws by Lingnan University, Liu exemplified perseverance, community service, and leadership until his passing in 2017 at age 79.
