Edward Cock (Hong Kong) 谷克(香港)

Edward Cock (谷克太平紳士, 1884-1969) was a distinguished Rotarian of the Hong Kong Rotary Club in the 1930s and 1940s, classified under “Ships & Nautical Equipment – Shipbuilding.” He served as Chief Manager of The Hong Kong & Whampoa Dock Co., Ltd. and was notable for his community leadership as President of the Boy Scouts Association Hong Kong Branch (1934-1940) and Commodore of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club (1937-1940). Born in Cornwall, England, Cock trained as a naval architect and earned an MBE in 1918. After moving to Hong Kong in 1921, he advanced sailing locally, helped establish the Kowloon Golf Club, and held civic roles including Justice of the Peace. He was interned during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong (1941-1945). Post-war, he retired to Jersey and served as Commodore of the Royal Channel Islands Yacht Club (1950-1952). Cock and his wife Clementina had no children and passed away in the late 1960s.

Nascido em Cornwall, Inglaterra, Cock formou-se como arquiteto naval e recebeu o título de MBE em 1918. Após mudar-se para Hong Kong em 1921, impulsionou a vela localmente, ajudou a fundar o Kowloon Golf Club e assumiu funções cívicas, incluindo juiz de paz.
