Joaquim Morais Alves (Macau) 歐若堅(澳門)

Joaquim Morais Alves (1923–2003) was a prominent Portuguese-born civic leader and businessman in Macau. He served as President of the Rotary Club of Macau (1972–1973) and played a key role in Macau’s economic and political development. Alves was involved with the Macau Tourism and Amusement Society (STDM) and its gaming subsidiary in partnership with Stanley Ho. He founded and led the Macau Electricity Company (CEM) after it transitioned from British management in 1972. Politically, Alves presided over the Macao Municipal Council (1966–1974), chaired the commission for implementing Chinese in Macau’s administration, and led organizations such as the Portuguese Red Cross delegation and Macau Olympic Committee. A two-term legislator in Macau’s Legislative Assembly, he advocated strongly for the Macanese community. Alves was honored as “Citizen Emeritus of Macau” and posthumously received Portugal’s Grand Cross of the Order of Merit in 2005. His legacy is commemorated by the International Institute of Macau and other local organizations following his death in 2003.

Presidiu o Rotary Club de Macau (1972–1973) e teve papel fundamental no desenvolvimento econômico e político da região. Alves esteve envolvido com a Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau (STDM) e sua subsidiária de jogos, em parceria com Stanley Ho. Fundou e liderou a Companhia de Eletricidade de Macau (CEM) após a transição da gestão britânica em 1972. Politicamente, presidiu o Conselho Municipal de Macau (1966–1974), presidiu a comissão para implementação do chinês na administração local e liderou organizações como a delegação da Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa e o Comité Olímpico de Macau. Foi legislador por dois mandatos na Assembleia Legislativa de Macau e defensor da comunidade macaense. Foi homenageado como “Cidadão Emérito de Macau” e agraciado postumamente com a Grande Cruz da Ordem do Mérito de Portugal em 2005. Seu legado é celebrado pelo Instituto Internacional de Macau e outras organizações locais após seu falecimento em 2003.

Joaquim Morais Alves（1923–2003）是出生于葡萄牙的澳门知名社会领袖和商人。他曾任澳门扶轮社会长（1972–1973），在澳门经济和政治发展中发挥重要作用。Alves参与了澳门旅游娱乐有限公司（STDM）及其博彩子公司，与何鸿燊合作。1972年英国管理权移交后，他创办并领导澳门电力有限公司（CEM）。政治上，他曾任澳门市政局局长（1966–1974），负责推动中文在澳门行政中的实行，并领导葡萄牙红十字会澳门代表团及澳门奥委会等组织。他曾任澳门立法会两届议员，积极维护澳门葡人社群权益。Alves被誉为“澳门荣誉市民”，并于2005年获葡萄牙功绩勋章大十字勋章追授。其贡献由澳门国际协会及多家本地组织纪念，他于2003年因癌症去世。
