Eminent Rotarians on the Honorary Doctorates Roster of The University of Macau

The University of Macau (UM), established in 1981 as the University of East Asia and made public in 1991, is Macao’s leading comprehensive research university located on Hengqin Island. With over 12,000 students and 650 faculty members, UM promotes interdisciplinary education and global collaboration through its “4-in-1” model. The university awards honorary doctorates in seven disciplines, honoring individuals with outstanding societal, academic, or university contributions. Among the distinguished recipients are eminent Rotarians such as Sir Run Run Shaw (DSocSc, 1985), former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger (LLD, 1987), Dr. Henrique de Senna Fernandes (DLitt, 2008), and Padre Lancelote Miguel Rodrigues (DHum, 2010), all notable figures associated with UM and the Macao region.

A Universidade de Macau (UM), fundada em 1981 como Universidade da Ásia Oriental e pública desde 1991, é a principal universidade de pesquisa abrangente de Macau, localizada na Ilha de Hengqin. Com mais de 12.000 estudantes e 650 docentes, a UM promove educação interdisciplinar e colaboração global pelo seu modelo “4-em-1”.
