Women Serving Rotary

Women connected to Rotary clubs, mainly as wives and female relatives of Rotarians, have played a vital role in service efforts through various organizations before Rotary admitted women members in 1989. These groups, such as Women of Rotary, Rotary Anns or Rotariannes Clubs, Las Damas de Rotary, and especially the Inner Wheel Club, have supported numerous humanitarian initiatives including schools, clinics, food programs, hospitals, orphanages, and elderly care. Founded by Mrs. Margarette Golding in 1924, Inner Wheel is now one of the world’s largest women’s service organizations, with nearly 104,000 members across more than 103 countries. Initially a British and Irish Rotary support group, it expanded internationally from the 1930s and became the International Inner Wheel in 1967. While Inner Wheel does not have chapters in mainland China, it remains active in Taiwan, promoting international friendship and public service with flexible monthly meeting commitments.
