Tientsin Rotarians celebrated 12th Anniversary – 1935

The Tientsin Rotary Club No. 1444 celebrated its 12th anniversary on May 9, 1935, with a gala dinner at the Tientsin Club. Founded on May 10, 1923, and affiliated with Rotary International, the club had grown to 61 members from 14 nationalities. The event featured nostalgic speeches from charter members reflecting on the club’s origins. Following the dinner, the club hosted its annual Father and Son Tiffin at the East Arsenal Barracks in the French Colonial Army precinct. Unlike previous years’ hotel events, the 1935 Tiffin was a picnic prepared by a U.S. Army kitchen squad, including races for fathers and sons or adopted fathers. This celebration was covered in the Far Eastern Rotary Review, highlighting the club’s diverse and vibrant community spirit.

O Rotary Club de Tientsin nº 1444 comemorou seu 12º aniversário em 9 de maio de 1935 com um jantar no Tientsin Club. Fundado em 10 de maio de 1923 e afiliado ao Rotary International, o clube cresceu para 61 membros de 14 nacionalidades. O evento contou com discursos nostálgicos dos membros fundadores sobre a origem do clube. Após o jantar, o clube realizou seu tradicional Pai e Filho Tiffin no Quartel do Arsenal Leste, na área do Exército Colonial Francês. Diferente dos anos anteriores, foi um piquenique preparado por uma equipe de cozinha do Exército dos EUA, com corridas entre pais e filhos ou pais adotivos. A celebração foi destacada no Far Eastern Rotary Review, evidenciando o espírito comunitário vibrante e diversificado do clube.
