Kowloon East Rotary Club – First 100% Major Donor Club of The Rotary Foundation

In June 2007, the Rotary Club of Kowloon East in Hong Kong became the first Rotary club worldwide to achieve 100% Major Donor status for The Rotary Foundation. Announced by Trustee Chair Luis Giay during the RI Convention’s Major Donor Dinner, every one of the club’s approximately 40 members donated at least US$10,000. The achievement was celebrated at a ceremony attended by over 900 Rotarians at the Salt Lake City Marriott Downtown Hotel. This milestone highlighted the club members’ outstanding generosity and dedication to the Foundation’s mission of “doing good in the world,” as envisioned by founder Arch C. Klumph. Key figures present included past club president Albert Poon, 2007-08 District 3450 Governor Peter Wong, and 2006-07 club president Stephen.
