Gary C. K. Huang, born in Fujian, China in 1946 and raised in Taiwan, is the first Chinese president of Rotary International. After joining the Rotary Club of Taipei at age 30 and overcoming early resistance due to his youth, Huang held leadership roles including club president and district governor for Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Educated in the U.S. and internationally in business and insurance, he grew a small Taiwanese insurance firm into a major company while remaining active in Rotary. Inspired by his parents’ emphasis on leadership and community service, Huang embraced Rotary alongside his wife Corinna and their three children, all Rotarians. His presidency promoted “Light Up Rotary,” focusing on outreach, diversity, fun, and membership growth, particularly among younger and female members. Huang’s long-term charitable work includes sponsoring orphaned girls’ education and employment, embodying Rotary’s mission to uplift communities.

Após ingressar no Rotary Club de Taipei aos 30 anos e superar resistências iniciais por sua juventude, Huang ocupou cargos de liderança, incluindo presidente do clube e governador distrital para Taiwan, Hong Kong e Macau. Formado nos EUA e com educação internacional em negócios e seguros, ele expandiu uma pequena empresa taiwanesa de seguros em uma grande companhia, mantendo-se ativo no Rotary.
