Hong Kong Island West Rotary Club – World’s First 100% Paul Harris Fellow Club – 1975

In 1975, the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island West became the first Rotary club worldwide to have all its members recognized as Paul Harris Fellows, a major accomplishment for The Rotary Foundation. Wilfred Wong was designated the club’s 68th Paul Harris Fellow, completing the club’s full fellowship status. This achievement was acknowledged with a Certificate of Appreciation presented by Past Rotary International President William E. Walk Jr., then Chairman of The Rotary Foundation Trustees. By 1977-1978, the club had the highest number of Paul Harris Fellows in Rotary International District 345, which included 83 clubs across Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, with 88 fellows among 68 members. The presentation featured past club presidents C. M. Wong and Herman Chan, and Past District 345 Governor Hari N. Harilela. This milestone underscored the club’s dedication to promoting international understanding and peace through The Rotary Foundation.
