The Rotary Club of Hong Kong – Home of Many Honorary Doctorates and Fellows

Chartered in 1931, the Rotary Club of Hong Kong is the oldest continuously active Rotary Club in the greater China region, maintaining over 80 years of meetings and a yearly membership of around 100. The club has produced many notable Rotarians who took leadership roles in organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, St. John Ambulance, Hong Kong Scouts, Hong Kong Red Cross, and various law enforcement agencies. Members also served in Hong Kong’s Urban Council, Legislative Council, and Rotary International leadership. Importantly, several Rotarians received honorary doctorates and fellowships from major local universities, including The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, honoring their significant contributions to society, academia, and the Hong Kong community. These accolades are among the highest honors awarded by these institutions.

Fundado em 1931, o Rotary Club de Hong Kong é o clube Rotary em atividade contínua mais antigo na região da Grande China, com mais de 80 anos de reuniões regulares e aproximadamente 100 membros anualmente. O clube formou muitos Rotarianos notáveis que ocuparam cargos de liderança em organizações como o Comitê Olímpico Internacional, St. John Ambulance, Escoteiros de Hong Kong, Cruz Vermelha de Hong Kong e diversas forças policiais. Membros também serviram no Conselho Urbano de Hong Kong, no Conselho Legislativo e em cargos de liderança do Rotary Internacional. Vários Rotarianos receberam doutorados honorários e bolsas de estudo em importantes universidades locais, incluindo a Universidade de Hong Kong, a Universidade Chinesa de Hong Kong e a Universidade Politécnica de Hong Kong, reconhecendo suas contribuições significativas à sociedade, à academia e à comunidade de Hong Kong. 香港扶轮社成立于1931年，是大中华地区历史最长、持续活跃的扶轮社，已有超过80年的定期会议历史，会员人数每年约为100人。该社培养了许多杰出的扶轮社成员，他们曾在国际奥委会、圣约翰救护、香港童军、香港红十字会及多个执法机构等组织担任重要领导职务。会员还曾在香港市政局、立法局以及国际扶轮组织中担任领导角色。值得一提的是，多个扶轮社成员获得了包括香港大学、香港中文大学、香港理工大学等本地主要大学授予的名誉博士和荣誉会员，以表彰他们对社会、学术及香港社区的重大贡献。这些荣誉是上述大学能够授予的最高奖项之一。
