Dr. The Honourable Sir Kenneth Fung Ping-Fan (1911–2002) was a prominent Hong Kong politician, businessman, and community leader. Son of Fung Ping-Shan, co-founder of the Bank of East Asia, he succeeded his father in leading the family business after 1931. Kenneth joined the Rotary Club of Hong Kong at 23 as its youngest member and later served as its president (1949–1950) and District 345 Governor (1961–1962). He held key public positions including Senior Unofficial Member of the Urban Council (1951–1960), Legislative Council member (1959–1965), and Executive Council member (1962–1972). Fung was dedicated to education, chairing the United College Board (1962–1972) and engaging with the University of Hong Kong and Chinese University of Hong Kong. An environmentalist, he founded Hong Kong’s World Wildlife Fund chapter in 1961 and co-founded Ocean Park Hong Kong in 1971, serving as its inaugural chairman. Knighted in 1972, Fung contributed widely to youth and cultural organizations throughout Hong Kong.
