Reverend James Ira Dickson (Taipei) 孫雅各牧師(臺北)

Reverend James Ira Dickson (1900–1967) was a Canadian Presbyterian missionary who significantly influenced Christianity in Taiwan. Born in South Dakota, USA, he graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1927 and, with his wife Lillian Ruth Vesconte, started missionary work in Japanese-occupied Taiwan that same year. Dickson served as principal of Taiwan Theological College and Seminary, relocating it to Yangmingshan. He was a founding member and the second president of the Taipei Rotary Club (1949–1950). Forced to leave Taiwan during WWII due to Japanese pressure, Dickson and his wife returned in 1945. He was instrumental in the mountain church movement, promoting indigenous Christian outreach, social welfare, founding 385 churches, and collaborating with Mennonite medical missions. Dickson retired in 1965 and died from a brain tumor in 1967 in Taiwan. His wife continued their missionary work among Taiwan’s indigenous peoples after his death.

Nascido em Dakota do Sul, EUA, formou-se no Seminário Teológico de Princeton em 1927 e, junto com sua esposa Lillian Ruth Vesconte, iniciou o trabalho missionário em Taiwan sob ocupação japonesa naquele mesmo ano. Dickson foi diretor do Taiwan Theological College and Seminary, transferindo-o para Yangmingshan. Foi membro fundador e segundo presidente do Rotary Club de Taipei (1949–1950). Durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial, devido à pressão japonesa, ele e sua esposa deixaram Taiwan, retornando em 1945. Ele teve papel crucial no movimento das igrejas de montanha, promovendo a evangelização indígena, o bem-estar social, fundando 385 igrejas e colaborando com missões médicas menonitas. Dickson aposentou-se em 1965 e faleceu de tumor cerebral em 1967, em Taiwan. Sua esposa continuou o trabalho missionário entre os povos indígenas taiwaneses após sua morte.

詹姆斯·艾拉·迪克森牧師（1900–1967）是加拿大長老會傳教士，對臺灣基督教影響深遠。他出生於美國南達科他州，1927年畢業於普林斯頓神學院，與妻子孫麗蓮（Lillian Ruth Vesconte）同年開始在日治時期的臺灣從事傳教工作。迪克森曾任臺灣神學院校長，並將學院遷至陽明山。他是臺北扶輪社創始成員及第二任社長（1949–1950）。二戰期間因日方壓力，夫妻倆離臺赴英屬圭亞那，戰後1945年返回。他積極推動山地教會運動，促進原住民基督教及社會福利，創立385間教會，並與門諾醫療傳教合作。1965年退休，1967年病逝於臺灣，葬於當地。妻子逝後持續在臺灣原住民間開展傳教工作。
