Cheng Tsang-Po (程滄波, 1903–1990), originally named Cheng Chung-Hsing, was a prominent Chinese journalist and politician during the Republic of China era. He was president of the Central Daily News in Nanking (1932–1940) and chief editor of Hong Kong’s Sing Tao Daily. Cheng contributed to Shishi Xin Bao and World Journal, and as a Kuomintang member, was elected to Taiwan’s first Legislative Yuan in 1948, serving until 1990. He led a 1958 boycott against restrictive publishing laws and joined the Nanking Rotary Club while at Central Daily News, witnessing its suspension during the Japanese invasion and Communist limitations. Cheng’s career bridged journalism, politics, and education, advocating press freedom and holding academic roles in Taiwan. His life illustrates the complex interactions of media, political power, and society across China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong in the 20th century.
