The Hon. Peter Chan Chi-Kwan (New Territories) 陳子鈞(新界)

The Honourable Peter Chan Chi-Kwan (1936–2017) was a distinguished Hong Kong barrister and public servant of Cantonese descent. Educated in Hong Kong, Melbourne University, and the Middle Temple in London, he co-founded and was Honorary President of the Hong Kong Civic Association. Chan served on the Hong Kong Urban Council from 1969 to 1991 and the Kowloon City District Board. He advised the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions, New Territories Heung Yee Kuk, and Cheung Chau Rural Committee. A community leader, he held key roles in the Rotary Club of New Territories and the King’s College Old Boys’ Association Primary School No. 2. Appointed to the Consultative Committee for the Hong Kong Basic Law in 1985, Chan also served on the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. He was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal in 1977. Chan passed away in 2017 due to acute pneumonia, aged 81.

Educado em Hong Kong, na Universidade de Melbourne e no Middle Temple em Londres, foi cofundador e presidente honorário da Hong Kong Civic Association. Chan integrou o Conselho Urbano de Hong Kong de 1969 a 1991 e o Conselho do Distrito de Kowloon City. Atuou como conselheiro da Federação Sindical de Hong Kong, do Heung Yee Kuk dos Novos Territórios e do Comitê Rural de Cheung Chau. Líder comunitário, desempenhou papéis importantes no Rotary Club dos Novos Territórios e na King’s College Old Boys’ Association Primary School No. 2. Nomeado para o Comitê Consultivo da Lei Básica de Hong Kong em 1985, Chan também serviu no Comitê Provincial de Guangdong da Conferência Consultiva Política do Povo Chinês. Recebeu a Medalha do Jubileu de Prata da Rainha Elizabeth II em 1977. Faleceu em 2017 devido à pneumonia aguda, aos 81 anos.

尊敬的陳子鈞先生（1936–2017）是香港著名律師和公共服務人士，廣東籍貫。陳先生於香港接受教育，後赴墨爾本大學及倫敦中殿學習法律，為香港公民協會創會成員及終身名譽主席。他於1969年至1991年任香港市政局議員，並曾任九龍城區議會成員。陳子鈞亦曾任香港工會聯合會、新界鄉議局及長洲鄉事委員會顧問，活躍於社區服務，曾任新界扶輪社領導及英皇書院校友會第二小學主席。1985年獲委任為香港基本法諮詢委員會成員，並參與中國人民政治協商會議廣東省委員會工作。1977年獲頒發英女皇銀禧獎章。陳先生於2017年因急性肺炎逝世，享年81歲。
