Eminent Rotarians on the Roster of Honorary Graduates of the Chinese University of Hong Kong

This article highlights eminent Rotarians who received honorary degrees from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in the 20th century, aligning with Rotary’s first 95 years. During a century marked by global crises such as pandemics, world wars, and ecological threats, CUHK awarded its highest honor to individuals contributing significantly to humanity, academia, Hong Kong, or the University. Among them were The Honorable Tang Ping-Yuan (唐炳源), awarded a Doctor of Laws in 1968; he was charter president of the Rotary Club of Wusih (1937–38) and served on Hong Kong’s executive and legislative councils. Also honored was The Honorable Kenneth Fung Ping-Fan, who received the same degree in 1968. Fung led the Rotary Club of Hong Kong as president (1949–50), served as Rotary International District Governor, and held several key government council roles.
