This study by Liu Jingheng (2017) examines the establishment and evolution of Rotary Clubs in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau from 1951 to 1987. Rotary in the region originated with early clubs in Hong Kong (1930/31, 1948), Macau (1947), and Taiwan’s Taipei Club formed during Japanese rule in 1931, though these lost international affiliation in 1940 due to World War II. Post-1945, Rotary reemerged with a new Taipei club certified in 1948. By 1951, clubs in Taipei, Hong Kong, Kowloon, and Macau were organized under one international advisor. District 345 was created in 1960, led first by Taipei’s Kwo Keh-Ti, formalizing regional coordination. The Rotary presence expanded in Taiwan with new districts in the late 1970s and 1980s. In 1987, District 345 split, separating Hong Kong and Macau from northern Taiwan. The study also details leadership rotation and cooperation amid changing political contexts.

O Rotary na região começou com clubes em Hong Kong (1930/31, 1948), Macau (1947) e o Clube de Taipei, Taiwan, criado durante o domínio japonês em 1931, que perdeu a afiliação internacional em 1940 devido à Segunda Guerra Mundial. Após 1945, o Rotary ressurgiu com um novo clube de Taipei certificado em 1948. Em 1951, clubes em Taipei, Hong Kong, Kowloon e Macau foram organizados sob um único assessor internacional.
