When and Where came the RYLA – 扶輪青年領袖獎勵計劃的緣起

The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) began in 1960 in Queensland, Australia, after the successful youth festival “Gundoo.” It was designed to foster leadership, personal growth, and citizenship among young people aged 14-30. RYLA quickly expanded throughout Australia and was officially recognized as an international Rotary program at the 1971 Rotary International Convention in Sydney. By 1998, RYLA was active in over half of Rotary’s 521 districts globally. Rotary International President James Lacy then established an international committee to further develop and promote the program. Regional workshops were organized to share best practices and encourage innovation. Known for its impactful activities, RYLA continues evolving with initiatives like E-RYLA, maintaining its commitment to nurturing youth leadership worldwide.
