The Provisional Rotary Club of Beijing – Hosted the First Student Exchange in 2004

In January 2004, Anna Kennedy, a 16-year-old from Gawler, Australia, became the first student to participate in Rotary International’s Youth Exchange program through the Provisional Rotary Club of Beijing. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gawler Light, she spent two months in Beijing attending Beijing BISS International School, living with several host families including Beijing Rotary Club members, and improving her language skills while experiencing Chinese culture. This exchange marked Beijing’s first involvement in Rotary’s global youth program, which has facilitated cultural understanding since 1929. At the same time, Beijing student Dawn Lo visited Gawler in a reciprocal exchange. The initiative helped dispel misconceptions about China and strengthened Rotary’s mission to promote international peace through cultural exchange.

Em janeiro de 2004, Anna Kennedy, uma jovem de 16 anos de Gawler, Austrália, tornou-se a primeira estudante a participar do programa de Intercâmbio Juvenil do Rotary Internacional através do Clube Provisório de Rotary de Beijing. Patrocinada pelo Rotary Club de Gawler Light, ela passou dois meses em Beijing frequentando a Beijing BISS International School, morando com várias famílias anfitriãs, incluindo membros do Rotary de Beijing, aprimorando suas habilidades linguísticas e vivenciando a cultura chinesa. 2004年1月，16岁的澳大利亚戈勒(Gawler)学生Anna Kennedy通过北京临时扶轮社，成为首位参与扶轮国际青年交流项目、访问北京的学生。在戈勒莱特扶轮社(Rotary Club of Gawler Light)的赞助下，她在北京BISS国际学校学习两个月，住在包括北京扶轮社会员在内的多户寄宿家庭中，提升语言能力并体验中国文化。这次交流标志着北京首次参与扶轮自1929年以来促进跨文化理解的全球青少年项目。同期，北京学生Dawn Lo赴戈勒进行回访。此活动帮助消除了对中国的误解，强化了扶轮通过文化交流促进国际和平的使命。
