PDG Lawyer Yu – DG 1978-1979

Lawyer Yu (1912–1998) was a distinguished jurist in the Republic of China and a prominent Rotary leader in Taipei. He played a crucial role in founding the Rotary Club of Taipei South District in 1968 and served as its inaugural president from 1969 to 1971. During 1978-1979, Yu served as Rotary International Regional Director for Area 345, responsible for northern Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. The creation of the Taipei South Rotary Club was initiated by the Taipei North District Rotary Club Council on July 18, 1968, with key figures such as Pastor Xu Qijue (徐启觉) and Director Lu Mao Minchu involved. Several meetings in late 1968 and early 1969 coordinated efforts among local leaders to establish the club’s foundation, leading to official organization and activities beginning in early 1969.
