Kowloon Golden Mile Rotary Club first launched Fax Broadcast – 1992

In January 1992, the Kowloon Golden Mile Rotary Club in Hong Kong pioneered the use of fax technology to distribute a weekly bulletin to Rotary members. They developed a computer-based system to combine text, photos, and graphics into a standard newsletter format, which was sent via faxcard to district leaders, officers from 33 clubs in District 3450, and the local press. This innovative approach leveraged the widespread availability of fax machines and local free faxing, enabling quick and easy production and distribution. The bulletin received notable attention and reportedly was among the first faxed weekly newsletters worldwide, inspiring other Rotary clubs to adopt similar methods.
