In 2017, the Rotary Club of Hong Kong partnered with the Hong Kong Land Rover Club and British Motors to convert a retired Australian six-wheel-drive Land Rover into a mobile clinic serving remote communities near Ulan Bator, Mongolia. This effort supported the ongoing “Test for Life” program, which since 2006 has provided cervical cancer screenings and treatments, saving nearly 1,800 women through early detection. Funded by over HK$800,000 from corporate and community donors including Prince Jewellery & Watch, the team refurbished the vehicle’s mechanics, installed medical facilities, and adapted power and water systems for Mongolia’s harsh environment. Equipped for gynecological exams, Pap smears, ultrasound, and ECG, the clinic was completed in May 2017 and slated for delivery to Mongolia by December. The Rotary Club of Hong Kong aims to expand screening efforts with a goal to raise US$1.2 million for the “Test for Life” initiative.
