Hong Kong Has Twins – October 1954

In October 1954, Hong Kong Island, part of the British Crown Colony, welcomed two new Rotary Clubs: Hong Kong Island East and Hong Kong Island West. These clubs expanded the Rotary presence beyond the original Rotary Club of Hong Kong, founded in 1930, and followed earlier development into Kowloon and Portuguese Macao. The Hong Kong Island East club was admitted on April 6, 1954, with Hong Kong Island West joining six days later. Both clubs celebrated their charters together, with 450 Rotarians, guests, and friends attending the joint event. The celebration featured cultural performances, including Cantonese opera and a flute solo, reflecting the growth and community spirit of Rotary in the region.

Em outubro de 1954, a Ilha de Hong Kong, parte da Colônia da Coroa Britânica, recebeu dois novos Clubes Rotary: Hong Kong Island East e Hong Kong Island West. Esses clubes ampliaram a presença do Rotary além do Clube Rotary de Hong Kong original, fundado em 1930, após expansões para Kowloon e Macau português. O clube Hong Kong Island East foi admitido em 6 de abril de 1954, seguido pelo Hong Kong Island West seis dias depois. Ambos celebraram suas cartas juntas, com 450 rotarianos, convidados e amigos presentes.
