Fung Hon-Chu (1911–1994), OBE, JP, was a distinguished Hong Kong businessman and community leader originally from Guangzhou. He was closely associated with Li & Fung Limited, serving as chairman of the major supply chain firm. Fung was instrumental in founding the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island West and served as its first president when it was chartered on April 12, 1954, as the fourth Rotary club in Hong Kong. He contributed to the creation of Rotary International District 345 in 1960. Fung held significant public service roles, including chairman of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, president of the Hong Kong Cotton Merchants Association, and member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council from 1962 to 1970. Honored with the Badge of Honour in 1955 and appointed OBE in 1965, his legacy continues through the Fung Hon Chu Endowed Chair of Humanics established in 2006 at Hong Kong Baptist University to advance whole-person education and leadership development.
