Flag and Banner of Rotary International

The official flag of Rotary International was adopted at the 1929 International Convention in Dallas, Texas. It features a white background with a central gold Rotary wheel emblem outlined in royal blue, and the words “Rotary International” in gold. The design, created by commercial artist Alvin Schepp, was first flown in 1915 from the Baltimore Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, home of past Rotary president Russell F. Greiner, who led the flag committee. That year, it was also displayed at the San Francisco International Convention and the Panama-Pacific International Exposition on a kite. The flag has historic significance as it accompanied Admiral Richard E. Byrd on his polar flights in the 1920s and 1930s and accompanied explorer Professor Auguste Piccard during his 1932 stratospheric balloon ascent, symbolizing Rotary’s global heritage.
