Abbas Din el Arculli (Hong Kong) 夏高理(香港)

Abbas Din el Arculli (夏高理), OBE, KSJ, was an ethnic Indian solicitor and a founding member of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong in 1931. He served as its president from 1950 to 1951. Arculli was the fourth Commissioner of the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Brigade (SJAB) from 1947 to 1951, succeeding Edward Mauric Raymond. After World War II and the Japanese occupation, he led efforts to rebuild and reorganize the SJAB, which became an Overseas District of the British St. John Ambulance. Funded by philanthropist Aw Boon Haw and donations from the Kowloon General Chamber of Commerce, the SJAB refurbished its Tai Hang headquarters and acquired ambulances for Hong Kong and Kowloon. Under Arculli’s leadership, the SJAB pioneered the “Penetration Squad,” offering free medical and dental care to rural fishing communities, a unique program worldwide. His cousin, Ronald Joseph Arculli, was also a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s legal and governmental circles.

Foi o quarto Comissário da Brigada St. John Ambulance de Hong Kong (SJAB) entre 1947 e 1951, sucedendo Edward Mauric Raymond. Após a Segunda Guerra Mundial e a ocupação japonesa, liderou a reconstrução e reorganização da SJAB, que passou a ser um Distrito no Exterior do British St. John Ambulance. Com financiamento do filantropo Aw Boon Haw e doações da Câmara Geral de Comércio de Kowloon, reformaram a sede em Tai Hang e adquiriram ambulâncias para Hong Kong e Kowloon.
