70th Anniversary of Taipei Rotary Club – 台北扶輪社歡慶授證七十週年

The Taipei Rotary Club celebrated its 70th anniversary on December 3, 2018, at a banquet held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel with 449 attendees, including Rotary International President-elect Maloney. Founded on February 5, 1948, by mainland Chinese émigrés and international residents such as first president Yen Chia-kan, it was Taiwan’s first Rotary club and pivotal in expanding Rotary activities on the island. Initially, meetings were conducted in English before transitioning to Mandarin and Taiwanese dialects, supporting growth to 842 clubs and over 34,000 members nationwide. The club has contributed significantly to both local and international service efforts, with members like Gary Huang serving as Rotary International president (2014–15). In 2018, the club had 63 members and welcomed its youngest president, Jason Chu. The anniversary also celebrated new sister club partnerships with Rotary clubs in Bangkok, further strengthening its extensive Asian network.

O Rotary Club de Taipei comemorou seu 70º aniversário em 3 de dezembro de 2018, com um banquete no Mandarin Oriental Hotel, com a presença de 449 convidados, incluindo o presidente eleito do Rotary Internacional, Maloney. Fundado em 5 de fevereiro de 1948 por emigrantes chineses e residentes internacionais, como seu primeiro presidente Yen Chia-kan, foi o primeiro clube Rotary em Taiwan e teve papel fundamental na expansão das atividades Rotary na ilha. Inicialmente, as reuniões eram em inglês, depois passando para mandarim e dialetos taiwaneses, apoiando o crescimento para 842 clubes e mais de 34.000 membros no país.
