Hong Kong Rotary Scholar Rosanna Wong Yick-Ming (王䓪鳴) invested Dame by the Queen

Rosanna Wong Yick-Ming (王䓪鳴), a Hong Kong native and former Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar sponsored by the Rotary Club of Hong Kong Island West, was appointed Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II in the 1997 New Year Honours. She studied social work at the University of Toronto and was among the youngest and second Chinese woman to receive this honor at age 44. Wong held key public roles including Convenor of Hong Kong’s Executive Council, Chairperson of the Housing Authority, and Chair of the Education Commission. Starting her career with the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, she became Executive Director at 28. She championed youth services, legal reforms, and initiatives like the Commission on Youth and lowering the voting age. Wong’s extensive contributions to community and public service in Hong Kong and mainland China earned her multiple honorary degrees and awards.

Wong ocupou cargos públicos de destaque, incluindo Convocadora do Conselho Executivo de Hong Kong, Presidente da Autoridade de Habitação e Presidente da Comissão de Educação. Iniciou sua carreira na Federação de Grupos Juvenis de Hong Kong, tornando-se Diretora Executiva aos 28 anos.
